A living will is a document that states your preferences for end-of-life care, such as whether or not you want to be placed on life support if you are terminally ill or in a vegetative state. A healthcare power of attorney, on the other hand, allows you to appoint someone to make medical decisions on your behalf in the event that you are unable to do so.
